Education of Pupils with Special Educational Needs at Waldorf Schools

The bachelor thesis addresses the issue of educating students with a different mother tongue (DMT) in the environment of a Czech elementary Waldorf-type school. The theoretical part defines a student with special educational needs. Next, Waldorf education is described. The research part of the thesis was implemented using a qualitative type of research. The research group included teaching staff who directly participated in the educational process of DMT students.
Czech Language in the L-Pack

( Abstract(( This diploma thesis pursues an analysis of a language component in a didactical material called L-pack which is dedicated to A2 level migrants according to Common European Framework of Reference. This document projects an inner differentiation of the Czech language as well as communication needs of a focus group. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the importance of a situation in communication for didactical purposes considering the factual usage. In three chapters is focussed on pragmatic aspects of language behavior, to the choice of language and stylistic tools according to a character of a situation and monitors different approaches to communication situations to achieve optimal development of student' s communication competence. The methodological part presents the target and the work order and describes the didactical materials that have been analyzed. The analytical part of this thesis follows implementation manners of the L-pack in several dimensions. Selected cases are reviewed not only with respect to second language educational specialists but also with regard to the linguistic awareness of the Czech native speakers. Romance influence on English Wordstock

Title of the bachelor thesis: Romance Influence on the English Wordstock Key words: History of English, borrowing, loan word, lexicalization, language acquisition, second language, language interference. Abstract The bachelor thesis Romance Influence on the English Wordstock is concerned with the Romance impacts on English, which is most noticeable in its wordstock, and simultaneously it tries to find out what the awareness of learners of English of these influences is. The practical part is based on research in the form of a questionnaire which was distributed among English students of the Faculty of Education, Charles University in Prague and which consists of four exercises where various Romance specifics can be found. The research revealed that students do not have a particular cognizance of Romance influence but it showed that the longer the students study English, the fewer problems they have with the words coming from Romance languages. It also studied whether students who know the French or Latin language have an advantage when acquiring the English vocabulary. Content and Language Integrated Learning with ICT using the Interactive Whiteboard

The main goal of the diploma thesis "Content and Language Integrated Learning with ICT using the Interactive Whiteboard" is to provide a comprehensible assessment of the potential benefits of employing CLIL during ICT lessons. The thesis focuses on the recent history of CLIL and its roots as well as the official support it receives from the European Union. This work also takes a look at the advantages CLIL has to offer and why anybody should consider using it. This work goes on to suggest some basic questions a teacher should ask him/herself when considering whether to employ CLIL or not. The Practical Part is focused on creating a series of activities that may serve as an example of using CLIL during ICT lessons while making use of the Interactive Whiteboard, one of the new tools that is available to an increasing number of schools. The Practical Part also includes sample files to be opened on the Interactive Whiteboard, the age range of learners for whom the activity is intended, their learning context, aims and expected learning outcomes for each activity as well as the kinds of tasks included in each activity and the expected problems. Education students-foreigners at Czech primary schools

The thesis is focused on several areas related to the education of foreigners in primary schools. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on particular areas of children bilingualism and multicultural education. The legislative framework and the statistics of foreigners in the Czech Republic, which is closely related to the area is deeply analyzed. The last chapter discussed options and recommendations to assist the integration of foreign pupils in primary schools. The research part of the thesis deals with the approaches and experience of teachers with education of pupils-foreigners, the relationship with the children-foreigners to the particular school in the Czech Republic and their level of Czech language and attitude towards it. A Contrastive Approach in Teaching Czech Language to Czech Deaf

This work deals with the use of contrastive approach in teaching Czech language to Czech deaf, with positives and negatives of this approach and with its conditions of the use. The introduction described a process of language acquisition for hearing and deaf children and there is also described the difference between acquiring the first language and learning a second / foreign language. The work also denotes the causes of low literacy of Czech deaf and the possibility of solving this problem. The inclusion of contrastive approach to teaching could be the solution. Pupil with different mother tongue

Diploma thesis called Pupil with a different mother tongue concerns the topic of pupils with a home language different from the language of communication of the country they are in. In the theoretical part, the thesis describes the situation of these pupils in the Czech republic and in the world, especially the topic of bilingualism which reflects the situation of pupils with a different home language which already use the second language in various degrees. Next, it deals with intercultural communication, support of these pupils in school and methods of maintaining both languages (native and second). Practical part is based on observation of bilingual children in a particular Czech school in England, further on analyzed language utterances of children with a different home language and on semi-structured interviews with some bilingual families (children and parents) in England and in the Czech republic. Effectiveness of the Creative Writing Method to Develop Writing Skills in Czech as Foreign/Second Language

This dissertation concentrates on the development of writing skills in learners of Czech as a foreign/second language at A2-B2 levels. It aims to determine whether creative writing has positive influence on linguistic and discursive competence in acquiring Czech, as opposed to classic approaches. For these purposes, a probe was conducted in form of a one-semester qualitative action research. The sample consisted of 30 non-native University respondents. They were divided into two experimental and two control groups - with upmost regard to their comparability in terms of language levels, socio-linguistic parameters, the genres and topics assigned, as well as the number of lessons taught. In experimental groups, the writing skills was developed by the method of creative writing while the control groups were taught by means of traditional approach. After the semester, in case of experimental group I and control group I (at levels B1/B2), comparable increase in competences took place, therefore it can be concluded that the creative writing method may influence the development of the writing skills positively. In case of experimental group II and control group II (at levels A2/B1), the results are ambiguous. Nevertheless, the experimental groups̕ respondents had higher sureness in drafting.
